It is important that children have mastery of basic
facts. It is equally important that they
make sense of number combinations and develop a true understanding as they are
learning. Over the next postings, I will
list some strategies you can use with your child to help! Here is the first strategy...
Adding Zero
- If your child understands that when
you add zero, you are adding nothing, they should never get a basic fact with a
zero wrong. In younger children, this is
something they will need to learn and practice.
As easy as it seems, this is something young children do not necessarily
know! So, see if your child knows about
adding zero.
